Description
The Trumpeter 1/700 USS Hawaii CB-3 Large Cruiser 1945-47 from our 1/600 and 1/700 scale ship model kits range accurately recreates the real-life US Alaska-class large cruiser from World War II. This plastic model kit requires paint and glue to complete.Six US Navy Alaska Class large cruisers (CB) were planned before the Second World War. ALASKA CB-1 (kit ref PKTM06738) and GUAM CB-2 (PKTM06739) were commissioned in 1944. HAWAII CB-3 was launched after the war in late 1945 but by early 1947 was only 82% complete. Plans to convert HAWAII to a guided missile cruiser, or aircraft carrier, or large command ship were all shelved. The fitted turrets had already been removed when in 1959 the incomplete HAWAII was sold for scrap.
